Major Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced interruptions to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the urban area came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were hurt.

The assaults come after periods of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
